Project Palooza....

Wow...where do I begin???
It has been one of those weeks where my wheels are spinning faster than I can keep up!!!!  I saw this little project on another blog and for the life of me I can not remember which one......but I thought how cute, simple and easy! Make wall art by using old embroidery hoops with fabric of your choice.....I had several pieces of old quilting....I found the hoops at my local thrift store for 25 cents a piece!

I chose metal hoops, thought they went with my decor better....

I think they turned out pretty cute if I say so myself!

I decided to use them above Mr.T's desk in our little upstairs bedroom......I had the business attire goat picture hanging by itself over the desk and always thought it needed more...so this is where I hung my new art.

Here's another view of the room....I love old quilts and quilted items (can you tell?).  Miss Abby loves napping up here, she can see for miles out the windows....she watches for anything or anyone coming on the farm.

Ok....so for my next little project, which I'm not sure it qualifies as a project since it took all of 5 minutes...... I found the idea here at Tattered Tiques, you must check out their blog, so many ideas!!!! I so would love to visit these girl's shop some time. Here is a picture of their idea....not sure what you call these old rulers, but I remembered that we had one.....Mr.T's grandfathers!!!!

So here is mine atop the primitive cabinet in our living room.

I just love everything about it...the uniqueness, the simplicity, the history, the numbers....on and on....you get it, right???? I love it!

Now for my third project......I had scored this old feed sack and wanted to do something fun with it.....I made a throw pillow out of it.....again, I love it!!!!

Number 4!!!! I have had this little brown farm bench for years and decided it needed a makeover.....

I went through my oops paints from Lowes and chose this robin egg blue and gave it a new face! We never go to Lowes without checking out their oops paint, soooo cheap! I have many colors.....I am always needing paint for furniture makeovers.

This is where my little projects run together.....so I'm headed out to Mr. T's shop at this point to sand the little bench and rough it up, but also was going to play around with Looking Glass paint that makes glass look like old Mercury Glass!!!!

Once again, I saw this idea on another blog... and again I can not remember the blog....oops! This paint is so much fun.....I went to my local thrift store and bought several pieces of glassware for next to nothing (25cents a piece).... I found the paint at my local Hardware Store.....to make it look like Mercury Glass, you paint the inside of your piece and let it dry for a few minutes and then take a spray bottle of vinegar and mist lightly, the vinegar eats away a bit of the paint.....gives it the old mercury look.....let it dry really well
( I used a blow dryer to dry the inside...I'm not real patient) and you can then very lightly give it just a dusting of a second coat....you should still be able to see imperfections like in real Mercury Glass.....and then spray with the sealer that comes with the kit.

Here's my vase and three votives that I did today just playing around.....I plan on playing with some more pieces tomorrow! You can also see my little farm bench in it's new life!

I'm sure you can google better directions for using this paint.....I plan on playing around with it tomorrow and tweaking some things....I was not thrilled with the votives, but love the vase!

Whew, I'm tired!!!!!  On another note.....my back and neck are so much better, although the going to physical therapy 3x's a week is getting a bit old with 2 more months to go!.....yesterday the doc took x-rays of my lower back and the strangest thing... My right leg is shorter than my left and is throwing me all off, which over time has caused my spine to curve which is why my vertebraes are rubbing each other the wrong way! The weirdest part is my doc said this is usually caused from a childhood injury that went undetected and did not heal properly......for the life of me, I do not remember ever having an injury to my leg! I now have to wear a lift in my right shoe to balance me out...lol!
Ok.....I'm done! Hope your having a great week!

I've seen this idea for that you used for the embroidery hoops. I never thought of using quilted pieces. Very cute!
And the Carpenter's ruler makes a great star! I say I'm always going to make one, but I never do. my ruler is still in the work room-- I use it to measure! LOL...

  6. Well hello there Niece! I love when I have a new visitor who comments! I will have fun looking through your blog this morning.

Your quilt pieces look great in the hoops! Wish I could find hoops more often at the thrifts... have you priced them new? MAN! I've seen that hoop idea floating around blog land for a few years and have wanted to do it, too.

Wow, I wish I could get so many projects done in the winter. Good for you! For me, it's like walking through jello getting anything done this time of year! I think I'm supposed to be hibernating like the bears!

One of my legs gets longer than the other but my old chiro would adjust me and it would even out. I never have found another chiro that I trust enough to let them adjust me. :(

Well, I'm off to explore your blog! Expect more comments from me! ♥
